Sleepy Drive

As I began my master bedroom weekend painting project, I realized that I wasn’t getting quite as much done as I would have liked. I had a super cute 3 year-old  who kept wanting to use the tools on EVERYTHING in sight, including trying to hammer nails into the mattress. Yikes!

Audrey hadn’t had a nap and 8:00 P.M. was probably not the best time to begin painting. So, I decided I needed some soda to stay awake and Audrey needed a sleepy drive. She welcomed the opp0rtunity, so you know she was getting tired. :)

This is what we saw on the way back.

Then, this…

Followed by me doing much more of this…

(woodwork & wall after—it’s not really this blue in real life. It’s kind of a steel gray blue.)

However, she didn’t stay asleep for 10 minutes once I got her in the house and into her bed. So, she ended up going back and forth between the living room to play Barbie’s and animals to my bedroom to hammer more nails into the mattress.

It was like her sleepy drive turned into a cat nap that recharged her enough to stay up until almost midnight! Ugh! Needless to say, by the time I finished painting half the ceiling, half the woodwork and half of the walls, and then cleaning up all the paintbrushes and trays, I was ready for bed, too.

My room was filled with what seemed like toxic vapors because my throat and head started hurting from breathing the paint fumes. (Yes, the room was well ventilated or so I thought.) I ended up sleeping on the couch, which meant, I got no sleep whatsoever. It’s just not my bed! It was now 3:00 in the morning and I hadn’t had more than half an hour of sleep.

John woke me up at 4:00 to find coupons we had for free hot dogs so he could pick them up before the 4th of July festivities tomorrow and I ended up in Audrey’s bed and slept until almost 9:00 this morning. Ahhhh…… Now, if only the room would finish painting itself so I could run to Kirkland’s to exchange the lamps I bought yesterday.
