It doesn’t matter if you win or lose, it’s…

….how you interrupt the game. :)

During one of our recent snow days, Cole was bored and even I was craving a tiny bit more than pretending that I was cleaning. (Seriously, who did I think I was kidding?)  So, I gave Cole a choice of three games I would play with him. He chose Monopoly. I know that we don’t actually play it the right way because we only look at the rules if we think we are losing and/or we want the upper hand. I told Cole before we began that we would stop the game after 30 minutes. In our house, Monopoly has been known to go on FOREVER!!!

About two  minutes into setting up the game, Miss Interrupts-a-Lotta-Games decided to help us play. We knew we couldn’t keep her from playing, so we gave her a choice of pawns and she seemed happy. Until…she realized that the game was quite boring and she took matters into her own hands. Cole and I continued to play despite the fact that she kept moving our pawns all over the board. She was making the game quite interesting. Not only did you have to pay attention to what you rolled before she scooped up the dice, you had to remember where your pawn originally stood before she got a hold of it and moved it around the board.

(Please pretend like you don’t notice the horrible blue ethernet cord and white extension cord in the background. We live an a house that is 100+ years old and only have two outlets upstairs. We make do.)

(She hid the pawns from us at one point. I’ll give you one guess where they’re at!)

I got a little too full of myself and bought every utility and railroad that I landed on. Keep in mind, when the game started and I put the limitations on how long it would last, I told Cole that no one ever goes bankrupt. :) Famous last words! He got crazy and started buying all the properties after you pass go and put up four hotels. He bankrupted me!

Well, you win some, you lose some. Regardless, the time spent laughing at Audrey and enjoying Cole’s victory were absolutely priceless!  I have truly enjoyed our snow days this year. I hear that there will be a day in the near future that my kids won’t want to have anything to do with me for a time. I hope that it’s not anytime soon.

  1. No, maybe for a short time they want to be with others, but as they get older they still want time with you, at least our kids do, we love sitting and talking with them, they include us in lots of things and we all generally like each others company, I think, so far we have raised them right, and I know you guys are on the right track. I remember those fun snow days!
