Baby girl's ER debut

No, not the television show unfortunately, but the actual emergency room. Poor thing! Audrey had been running a low-grade fever and coughing some since Friday night. So, we canceled our plans for the weekend and focused on making her feel better. Last night, she was asleep on my chest and I could feel her heart beating through both of our shirts. Her heart was beating 160 beats a minute while she slept, which seemed extremely fast to me. After calling the after hours weekend number to the doctor's office and learning that all the Urgent Care facilities close early on Sundays, the nurse recommended that we take Sissy into the ER solely because of her heart rate.

We were at the hospital for several hours and learned that she had an ear infection in one ear. They thought her fast heart rate was either a response to pain or fever. She's now sleeping soundly (going on 2 1/2 hours). Since she's my little night owl and only takes one hour long nap a day, we knew she wasn't feeling good when she kept coming up to me with her sippy cup in hand saying, "Rock-a-Baby, Momma." That's her code for a specific hold that we use when we get her out of the shower or bath and we treat her like a tiny baby. It broke my heart that she wanted to be held like that because she felt so crummy. Now, with her antibiotic, Tylenol and Ibuprofen, she should be on the road to a speedy recovery in no time.

My mom and dad were sweet enough to show up at the hospital and sit with us a few hours as we waited. Cole enjoyed spending time with his Boppa. Especially since he let him use his camera phone to take pictures of all the fish in the fish tank in the waiting room. :) My mom went with Audrey and me to triage and into the acute care room. It's always nice to have a second set of ears and even better to have the support of someone who loves us and worries about us. Did I mention that we followed them to Walgreen's and they paid for Sissy's prescription? We're pretty blessed.

This is sure to be the most expensive bracelet she owns for awhile. :)
